"A Bar Proposal"
by luvnnate
Nathaniel had asked me to marry him, but the official proposal didn't come until later because he had not purchased my ring yet. In Mar. '08, we had received our stipend checks from school so I knew that it wouldn't be much longer before the "big" proposal.
At the time I was working as a bartender at a local bar and Nathaniel and I had become friendly with a lot of my customers. So, the day that he purchased the ring..he tried to trick me and say that he couldn't get it because the jewelry store was out of that particular ring. Well, I didn't know any difference because I didn't go with him to get it.
That afternoon, we went to the bar (my place of employment / it was my day off) for a couple of drinks. I sat at the table with two of my regular customers. While Nathaniel was going around telling everyone his plan...oblivious to me. Well, the next thing I know a slow song began to play on the jukebox and he (Nathaniel) squatted down beside me...tears immediately came to my eyes. I wondered why because I knew it was coming I just was not aware of when. I guess the not knowing part is what got me.
He began the proposal so sweetly. He grabbed my left hand and he was like "Keysa you know how much you mean to me and how much I love you." I choked out a "yea." And he continued and said, "Will you marry me?"
With tears streaming down my face, I replied, "YES!"
